Goliath, David, and the Fear of Man

By Jeff Redington

It is evident, and not imagination, that the Church of God Restoration has accomplished something great, they have effectively instilled fear in all that know them. Those who have not even joined their group, are scared as to what they might do. Relatives of those in the group are scared to speak against them, lest they never see their family again, who are in the group. Good God fearing people caught up in the group are scared to even think a thought of leaving. And those who have left, run so fast, that it is scary, to see the fear they have. What are they running from? They are running from the most horrible experience, that most of them ever had in their life, the horrible and dreaded Church of God Restoration and their infamous Angel ministry.

I want to draw an analogy here, you may read 1 Samuel the 17th Chapter.

"When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid."

The bible is packed full of stories, to help us understand, what is happening to us in life. So with this story, of a giant, who had all the true people of God, hiding, and scared to fight.

Here was an army who was defying the very God of Israel, and the army of Saul. Daring them to even think of trying anything. Then they send out the "big guns" and dared them, even further. Go ahead, just try anything!!!
The enemy was begging for someone to fight them. And this went on and on. And no one stepped up. Send down a man, to fight. Send someone, anyone, they were begging for a fight.

There sits Israel, scared, and fearful.

The enemy had a champion fighter, a really big man, and put all their trust in that one man to scare the people of God, you know him, Goliath.

Then comes David and his little stone.

The Church of God Restoration (CoGR) is Goliath in this analogy, and we are David. That is why I put that picture up on our front page.

The second biggest thing we have heard from folks, who have written in, is "thank you."

The number one biggest thing we hear, and almost always ends the letters we receive, is please do not reveal who I am, I don't want them to find out I have written to you. Or I don't want them to know what I have said. They are scared of the CoGR.

Why is this? Why would people be scared of the "True Church of God"?

The reason is, they teach you the fear of "THEM", and not the fear of God.

People are so fearful of this ministry, they will shake with nervousness at even seeing them in the store.

Note: My wife used to fear, for instance, when she was grocery shopping, when she saw one of this ministry, worried they would see something in her cart, which she "should" not be buying.

After we left the movement, they would drive by our house, to see if we had a TV or not, ...I guess that is why they cruise by at about 5 miles an hour starring at us, we had to close the curtains, as not to see them. This happened so often, we moved. We did not have the nicest place, but it worked for us. But to live in the same town, with these people always spying on us, was more than we could take. We would have "panic attacks" from just seeing them on the street, or in the store.

We were so terrified of them, we were scared of them ourselves. They were our abusers, and we still have reactions to them. Like a letter I recently got from someone in the group. My initial reaction was like before, I shuttered to read them. They were accusing me, and I have not felt that accusing spirit for years. Believe me it is not the "Spirit of the Lord" either, it is a spirit of fear coupled with accusations.

On one hand I understand why people fear them, they are horrible people, and they do so much damage to your confidence, your life, and your family, and many of us former members who have been so abused and lied to, have physical reactions to even their presence. Believe me when I say, it is not a presence of peace either, but fear.

Goliath, that is what they are like, they rule through fear.

Scary:

I watched a documentary movie the other day, and it showed the happenings in Jonestown the last few days. Jim Jones claimed all the children belonged to the "Peoples Temple", their group. 300 or more children were killed by them a few days later, as they killed themselves.

Danny Layne and the ministry of the CoGR claims all the children belong to the "Church of God Restoration", their group. Does that not scare you, that is what you should be scared of.

When Jim Jones called a meeting in their tabernacle, all the people and their children had to be present. Without question.

When Danny Layne and his ministry calls meetings, all the people and their children have to be present. Without question.

Jim Jones son, who was one of the very few to escape, tells that his father ruled the people through fear, that is how he controlled them.

As I saw all those people go into that tabernacle in Jonestown, it so reminded me of the "saints". How all were required to come, and not be late. Then I heard them tell how all the children belonged to them, and they taught them in their schools, just like the "CoGR Saints".

And the most scary thing I have to report, is the Church of God Restoration, proposed at one time, that maybe we would all have to move to South America, to practice the teachings on "Divine Healing" as taught by the CoGR, because so many were dying and getting in trouble with the law.

And I did not question this.

Looking back, I believe if this had came across the pulpit, we all would have moved, ...so many of us had already moved from Oklahoma to Washington, and from Oregon to Washington, why? Because they are the only way to heaven, ...so they claim.

We also were not allow to question this ministry, if we did we were told we would receive the same punishment as Ananias and Saphira in the book of Acts.

Here we have the little boy, a shepard, who had no fighting experience to speak of, but he had God. He had faith in God. God heard his prayers.

On the other side, we have the enemy army, with champion fighters, who are so big in their own minds, they did not fear to harass Gods little people. They had no problem saying the meanest things, to the people of God, and even about the God they serve.

David said, "...who is this uncircumcised Philistine???"

I guess he was being a little harsh wasn't he, but that was nothing, he planned on stopping the man, and in this case taking his life. This was war.

Looking past his size, and the enemies numbers. He went in the name of the Lord, and brought this giant down. The God that delivered him from the Lion, and from the Bear, could deliver him from this Giant.

I used to walk down to the end of the field behind our farm, about a half mile, and I would raise my hands, and say, "...Lord, I don't know what is wrong over there in Nooksack, on that campground, in our congregation, (I could see the trees from our farm), but there is something really wrong, and you have got to stop it."

Later after leaving the group, we talked to a man who lived down the road from the campground, and he told us that he and his wife, used to go out at night, and walk around this campground, and pray, they prayed that God would stop it.

Why would I pray like that, if it was truly heaven on earth to be a "saint", among the CoGR? Why would a neighbor to the "saints" pray that God would stop them?

At the time I had only Holiness doctrines to balance my view of them, I had no sound doctrine to contradict what they taught. I had a very one sided view of the scriptures, and really only knew about half of what they meant. Why? Because the holiness way only picks and chooses the scriptures they want to use, and the rest they pass right over, because they cannot explain them.

We have educated ourselves with the word of truth, the bible. We have educated ourselves about what we suspected, that this group was and is a cult. And guess what, we are now taking that knowledge and trying to do something with it, like keep ourselves free from ever coming in bondage to a group like the CoGR again, they are indeed a cult who rules through fear.

The fear of man, that is what the people of Israel had come to, they were so fearful of these Philitines, that they could not even argue back. They just stood there day after day, and could not think what to do. "...they were dismayed, and greatly afraid."

We don't want them to get all upset, we don't want to make them mad, we better just not say anything, or they may fight us. They were so terrified, they just trembled at their presence.

This is what I have seen in the last couple of months, we have more people out there who are scared of the Church of God Restoration and its ministry, than we have who will even speak up.

I have received many email, letters, telling us how much they appreciate us, and what we are doing. Yet they do not want to reveal who they are, they are fearful, that the Restoration movement "not of God" will cut them off from their families that are in the group, possibly not allowing them to ever see them again.

Now what kind of Church is that? It is not a Church, it is a cult.

Scared to "death" of them. Fearful. Dismayed. Greatly afraid.

This is probably one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard of. As well another infallible proof, that this group is not a Christian Church, but rather a mind control cult.

I am going to keep reminding you, they do not teach you the fear of God, they teach you the fear of them.

This group rules throw fear, and intimidation. They will put you under such horrible accusations, that are totally calculated, to keep you under their control.

Out of all the Churches I have belonged to in my life, and attended, from a Child, till now, here they are,

Baptist Church, Delaware, Oklahoma,
Methodist Church, Delaware, Oklahoma,
Church of Christ, Nowata, Oklahoma,
Church of God, Happy Hill, Childers, Oklahoma,
Church of God Holiness, Dewey Oklahoma,
Gods Saving Grace Mission, which I helped to start, Nowata Oklahoma,
Fire Baptised Holiness People, Independence, Kansas,
A mission work in the Phillipines, and in Hot Springs Arkansas,
Church of God, Guthrie Oklahoma,
Church of God, Enid, Oklahoma,
Church of God, Jefferson, Oregon,
Assembly of God, Little Rock Arkansas,
Assembly of God, Bartlesville, Oklahoma,
Silver Beach Community Church, Bellingham, Wa,
Baptist Church, in Bellingham, Wa,
Presbyterian Church, Bellingham, Wa,
First Church of God, Bellingham, Wa,
Gods Thirty Acres, Penn.
Also we visited as a project, approx. 20 Churches in our community, checking them out.

Not in one of these Churches have I seen the amount of Divorce, that I have seen in the "True Church of God???", the CoGR.

Out of all these Churches and others I have attended for special meetings, in association with these Churches, I have never seen any thing that resembles this Church of God Restoration, the CoGR is not anything like these other Churches or groups, they have went way beyond being a Church, and have transformed themselves into a mind control cult. That is what the problem is, we cannot find in Christianity, an example of what they have become, but it only takes a little study to verify, they are more a cult than anything else.

Come on folks, where is the God of Abraham, Issac, Jacob, David, Peter, John, and all the real saints down through the ages.

You are not the bad one, for calling their bluff. You are not the bad one for calling them to confess their sins, and repent of their evil.

Why will you allow this false Church of God have rule over you, and you are not even a part of the group? Why do you fear there "Goliath" ministry?

They walk out, and stomp there feet, and people just run.

Note: You know, I have not heard anyone yell in public like they do, when they preach, this yelling is a form of intimidation. They are teaching you not to mess with them. "Don't mess with us, we are powerful." They yell and scream at you for hours in their meetings, especially when they get challenged by someone like us.

They stomp, yell, and scream at you. Listen to the message on Bernie T's site, of Susan Mutch preaching, and you will see what I mean.

This ministry of the Church of God Restoration has the whole world around them completely intimidated by fear. Scared of them.

People among them, fall or rise at their word. Why? They are just men.

This Church of God Restoration is nothing more than the very spirit of Goliath, walking about the earth today, defying the little people of God.

"Don't you think about doing anything, we will feed your hide to the birds."

Ask yourself,
Am I scared of this Church of God Ministry?
Why am I scared of these ministers?
Why would I listen to these ministers, who have beaten children till they have passed out? I still cannot imagine how horrible this must be.

Who have not had the discernment to detect a child molester, right among the ministry? (Who molested a girl from another country, which is an international crime, and when they found out, have not reported this to the proper authorities, thinking they knew best.)

Why would I be afraid of these ministers who teach their people to die, instead of seeking medical help? Who don't call for help, till the person is sure to die, before the paramedics come???
Why should I listen to these leaders, who can lie to its membership, about things they want to hide?
Why should I listen to them?
When the ministry lies to a single member, and allow that member to go forth, and tell everyone, "everything is ok", then they have created a movement wide lie. They lied to you, and then they allowed the lie to continue.
They have taken advantage of the children of God for years, lied, hide things, taught false doctrines, elevated themselves to some lofty position, as the Angel ministry, misused their powers to gain authority over everyone in the movement, and as many outside the movement, as they can.

On top of this all, as a movement, they have utterly failed, because in their quest to create the "Perfect Church", they have not kept themselves pure, but rather covered up their own sins, and kept right on preaching, and have continued to beat, and abuse the humble people of God in every congregation.

People among them will profess to be "Sanctified, or Saved, just to get them off their backs", all the while not really even knowing what it means to really follow the Lord where ever he leadeth. Position is more important than the name of God. They have lifted up the idea of a "Pure Church, and a Pure ministry", so high, that not even they can do it. They have puffed themselves up so much, they are so spiritually proud, they cannot see themselves.

What we need, is for all the little saints who have been thrown out of this group to pray, "...Lord, I know now what is wrong over in that group, and I know there is probably so much more that is hidden over there, that this ministry has covered up, and please Lord, for the sake of your people who have been put under such horrible bondage, and treated so terrible by these false ministers of your gospel, will you please stop them..."

We also need more Davids, who will take what they have in their hands, and defy Goliath, and sling those stones, and bring that Giant down. If you can type, type. If you can write, write. If you can talk on the phone, talk. If you can print, print. If you can confront these people, then do so. Don't let them abuse another Church group, another family, another person. Help in the effort to confront these people, and warn others of the danger.

Yes this ministry of the CoGR, has grown into a giant, and intimidating force, where ever they tread, ruling through fear and accusations.

But God heard our prayer about the Nooksack / Chilliwack congregation, and he stopped it. That was the Bear for us.

Now we are faced with a Giant, and we have our little effort here, and Goliath may laugh out loud, at our feebleness, he will even be disappointed that someone more formidable, did not come forth. God knows who to send.

Do not fear them, but fight them, and let God do his work, through your hands.

It does not take the whole Bible to bring down a kingdom. It only take one scripture, and that scripture can bring down the mightiest of them.

I read a story once of a great orator, I may not get all the details right, but here is generally how it went.

This great orator, challenged the whole of Christianity to send their best man, their best preacher, and debate him. He knew in a public debate that he would win.

All the leaders of the Christian Church assembled, and did not know what to do. They feared this challenge, they feared this great orator so much. He was so famous.

After much debate among themselves, one of the older ministers, spoke up. He said, "...send down the farmer." So down went this farmer brother, from the Church, to this great debate.

The crowds gathered, and there in the midst stood this farmer. The orator went on and on, and was all upset, that they would send this dumb farmer, down to debate him, and when he had finished his spill and going on. He gave space for the farmer to speak. "Now what can you say to all that?"

The farmer said, "...In the name of Jesus, I command you to be dumb!"

The orator could not speak, the farmer walked away.
________________________________________________________

Little is much, if God is in it. One scripture, stood on by faith, can move a mountain. David, his stone, his sling, and Goliaths own sword, brought an end, to the Giant, all with the help of the Almighty, and the willingness of David.

So many are so scared to speak against this giant ministry of the CoGR, to call them out, and I admit that I still even have some fear of them, because of all the things we have experienced at their hands, and all the abusive behavior, towards us for so long.

But should they go unchallenged, and let to work their evil, and tell their lies, and get away with it. Should their sins go unconfessed, and they go right on preaching, as if nothing has happened.

Should we really fear men, or should we fear the God who is able to cast both soul and body into hell. They are like bullies in the school yard, who are always beating on the weak ones, so no one will mess with them.

It takes a lot of courage to confront such a group, they look good from a distance, and everyone looks good when they go to other places, but ask the home congregation what they know about these ministers, and you will find that your eyes will be opened. Ask the home congregation about the motive of their pastor, what might his ambitions be? Does he desire to be the head minister, after Danny?

Sorry, but this is not the True Church of God, but rather another on the list of over 5000 to 6500 such groups, in the US and Canada, who are more or less cults.

God help us all to do what we can to expose them for who they are, and spare others from going through what so many of us have had to, as a result of belonging to the wrong group.

Could God bring down a whole movement? Completely bring them to nothing? He did nations in the past, this is just one group.

We have Christian congregations here in Bellingham, that are twice the size of this whole group.

Amazing how powerful and big they think they are, they are a little ant hill, all puffed up to look like Mt. Everest.

I could not stop what was going on in Nooksack / Chilliwack, and I was not able to stop what they did to us, but God stopped them, and the group is no longer here.

However, God stopped them here in Nooksack, WA. Only two in the whole congregation, are still members of the group, they moved.
You have hope in your city, God can stop them there too, and just maybe, if this happens everywhere, there will be no more use for this site. But until then, I think we will continue our effort.

- The End -
